It should be the standard remote for DIRECTV. The backlight is perfect for the bedroom and stays on long enough to see the buttons. I know some reviewers have not liked where the backlight button is located on the remote, but I like it -- no chance I'm going to hit it by accident. The level of brightness of the backlight is low, perfect for a dark room. Buttons have a tactile feel and buttons are in the right, intuitive places. I'm ordering 2 more for our other TV's.
