Chevron is the operator of the Agbami field and FPSO, and has a 67.3% interest in the concession. The typical cargo size is 975,000 barrels. Agbami has very low levels of contaminants such as vanadium, nickel, and iron. Texaco and Nigerian independent oil company Famfa were granted exploration rights to the 617,000-acre block 216 in late-1996. We’re leaders in working in extremely difficult environments, and we have major operations in some of the world’s most important oil and gas regions. Our Upstream business combines innovation and the effective use of technology to maximize mature fields, discover new resources and meet the world’s growing demand for energy. Chevron began production from its Tahiti Field, the deepest producing field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, in May 2009. One of the largest crude oil and natural gas reservoirs in the gulf, the field was developed after the company used 3-D imaging signals to penetrate 2-mile-high layers of salt and visualize the full extent of the field.
